Director Oliver Stone recuts Alexander... again
Director Oliver Stone recuts his 2004 film, "Alexander," for the third time and plans to release it onto DVD.
Controversial filmmaker Oliver Stone has revealed in a recent interview, with ropeofsilicon.com, that he is standing by in preparations to recut his biopic of Alexander The Great into a massive extended edition. "I'm doing a third version on DVD, not theatrical. I'm going to do a Cecile B Demille/Oliver Stone three hour forty five minute thing. I'm going to go all out, put everything I like in the movie. He was a complicated man, it was a complicated story and it doesn't hurt to make it longer and let people who loved the film see it more and understand it more."
In another interview, with wildaboutmovies.com, Stone adds, "'Alexander'" was the biggest disappointment for me. I had the attitude of 'f*** it.' I shot a million, two hundred thousand feet on 'Alexander.' But that was the most I have ever shot on a film. I recently heard of a director, of a one and a half hour comedy, that shot one million feet! I can't waste film. I am going to put every inch of 'Alexander' to good use." "...and then it's up to Warner [Bros]. It will be a catalogue item, I don't think they'll go out and make a big thing of it."
